Reno Fire Officials Investigate House Fire

Posted: Updated:

Reno Firefighters worked on a house fire Friday night.

Fire officials say it happened around 10 p.m. at a home on Westfield Avenue, near Reno High School. When firefighters got on scene, they found the home with flames and heavy smoke. They quickly put out the fire.

There was one person inside at the time of the fire. She was able to get out with her pets safely. She stayed with a neighbor for the night because the damage was so extensive.

"It's very extensive in the area of origin, which is kind of back towards the kitchen area," said Battalion Chief Bob Knoll with the Reno Fire Department. "There's a lot of damage in there from both smoke and soot and heat."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
