A 12-year-old girl was struck by a car and killed while trying to cross U.S. Highway 395 north of Reno and south of Lemmon Valley over the weekend.
Nevada Highway Patrol officials say Brittney Bessey was killed in the crash shortly before 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Troopers say she was on the shoulder of the freeway when she attempted to cross the road. She was struck by a BMW driven by a 49-year-old Reno resident. No charges have been filed. The case remains under investigation.
