Auto Show 2013 has 18 local new car dealerships, all selling the latest models at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center all weekend.
"It's a great place to bring the family, this weekend, and kick some tires and look around," show promoter Jim Minor said. "And it really is good for the car business, right now and there's pent up demand, now. This is a great time of the year. It's the best time to buy."
More than 300 different cars are on hand, with deals of up to $6,000 rebates.
"It's a great chance to go from dealer-to-dealer, make your best deal, and compare," Minor said.
For some car shoppers, the best part is it's indoors.
"It's cold outside," Caroline Heddy said. "I don't like to stand outside and look. I would rather wait 'til summertime. So, the indoor idea is a big factor."
The Heddy's are shopping for a new Subaru but they say they are having a lot of fun looking at some of the other cars, like the Fiat.
"It's a cute little car," Steve Heddy said. "They've got a lot of fun looking stuff in them, you know."
With our area's wide range of weather conditions, organizers say northern Nevada is four-wheel drive country.
"We probably have over 35 SUVs and 4-wheel drives, in stock," Minor said. "And a lot of them get 30 miles per gallon."
But if it's fuel economy you're looking for, there's also a wide variety of hybrids and electric vehicles.
With some hybrids boasting 50 miles per gallon.
"I've been looking at the Chevy Sonic, I've been looking at the Scions, and I've been looking at the small Toyotas and Mazdas," Danny Shafer said. "And I haven't decided yet on which one I want."
The show runs Friday from noon until 8pm, Saturday from 10am to 8pm, and Sunday from noon to 5pm.
