The Nevada Highway Patrol is looking for a suspect after a fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian accident.

The accident happened around 6:30 Friday morning at the intersection of East William Street and State Street in Carson City.

Troopers say the victim, 46-year old John Randall Boggs of Carson City, was struck by an older model gray silver colored Toyota 4-Runner with black rims, tinted windows and a lifted suspension kit. A witness told troopers the driver applied the brakes when he saw the man trying to cross the eastbound lanes from the north side of the highway. The witness further stated the SUV, that was also traveling east, hit the Boggs in the right lane. Boggs initially ended up on the hood of the Toyota before rolling off or falling off the vehicle about 40 yards east of the area of impact.

Troopers say the driver of the Toyota did not stop and fled the area while the witness remained at the scene until emergency personnel arrived a few minutes later.

Boggs died on the scene.
