The Nevada Attorney General's office is advocating two bills aimed at increasing government transparency.
One of the bills discussed in an Assembly committee Thursday attempts to streamline the public records request process and allow a more-informed public audience.
Opponents argue the bill grants the government greater authority in arbitrarily deeming certain documents unworthy of public disclosure.
The second bill revises the open meetings law in response to the complaints the Attorney General's office regularly receives about open meeting law violations.
Carson City Republican Assemblyman Pete Livermore says the bill may already be outdated because it fails to address social media communications. (AP)
