Washoe Deputies Arrest Man on Child Luring Charges

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man they say is linked to a number of child luring cases over the last three months.

Deputies say the searched the home of 65-year-old Carl Smith -- who goes by Wayne -- and found evidence of contact with multiple girls under the age of 16.

Deputies say he would contact the girls without parental consent and try to engage in sexual activity.

Deputies believe he is tied to two reports of luring in December -- and two others in the last two months.

He now faces multiple luring, lewdness and contributing to the delinquency of a minor charges.

He's being held on $30,000 cash bail.

Detectives believe Smith may have victimized other juvenile females that live in the area. These persons, parents or acquaintances are urged to contact Detective Liles immediately at 775-328-3327. Victim Advocate services will be made available upon request.
