...COLDER TEMPERATURES WITH PERIODS OF SNOW SHOWERS THROUGH
EARLY SATURDAY MORNING...
For the Sierra and most of western Nevada, snow showers will develop today and continue through this evening. In the Sierra, stronger showers may produce up to 4 inches of snowfall.
Lighter snow amounts are expected for most of western Nevada. However, east of Highway 95 a larger snow band is likely to develop by midday and continue through this afternoon producing 2 to 5 inches of snowfall in eastern portions of Pershing and Churchill counties.
North winds will increase with gusts between 25 and 35 mph and combine with colder temperatures to produce wind chills in the teens and 20s today. Highs will remain in the 30s over most areas through the weekend.
In the Sierra, motorists should be prepared for chain and snow tire controls today. Roads may also become slick and snow covered later today along Highway 50 east of Fallon and Interstate 80 east of Lovelock.
