Secret Witness Offers $500 Reward in Reno Stolen Car Case

Posted: Updated:

Three schools were put on lockdown Tuesday morning as Washoe County deputies searched for a suspect who stole a vehicle in that neighborhood.

Deputies say after the vehicle was stolen the owner followed them to the area near Virginia Street and Foothill Road near Bishop Manogue High School where the man realized he was being followed, got out of the car and ran away.

Deputies then set up a perimeter, but could not find him.

As a precaution, the Washoe County School District placed Elizabeth Lenz and Picollo Elementary Schools on code yellow lockdowns, but were eventually lifted. Manogue is not under the school district's jurisdiction since it is a Catholic school. That school was also locked out.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 30's, with a medium-build and a shaved head. He was last seen wearing a black knit cap and gray hooded sweatshirt.

If you have any information, call Secret Witness at 322-4900 or text your tip to 847411. Your call will remain anonymous. A $500 reward is being offered.
