Carson City Deputies Arrest Man on Murder Charge

The Carson City Sheriff's Office arrested a man on open murder charges after a fight over child custody turned deadly Sunday night.

Deputies say 32-year-old David Grimes turned himself in.

He's accused of getting in a fight with 32-year-old James Lay and shooting him outside a home on west Washington Street in Carson around 8:30pm.

Deputies say Lay died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Grimes remains in custody on $250,000 bail. His first court appearance is scheduled for Thursday morning.
