President Obama to Campaign for Gun Proposals in Minnesota

President Barack Obama will look from support from the public and law enforcement community today when he visits Minneapolis to push for his gun control proposals.

Obama faces a tough fight on Capitol Hill when it comes to a ban on assault weapons and universal background checks for gun buyers.

Minnesota recently has taken steps to tackle gun violence, including a push for stricter background checks.

Obama's visit to the Minneapolis Police Department's Special Operations Center marks the first time he's campaigning on his controversial proposals outside of Washington. (AP)
