The Truckee Meadows Community College President was named as a finalist for the chancellor of an Arizona community college.

More than 6,000 people were contacted for the position at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona, while 39 people applied.

TMCC officials confirm with Channel 2 News that Dr. Maria Sheehan was selected as a finalist on Thursday.

The other finalist is Terrence J. Burgess, Ph.D, the President of San Diego City College.

The two will visit the community college in the coming weeks to participate in informational forums to meet the public and college employees.

Pima Community College looks to have the new chancellor on the job in July. A recent press release says it's the 8th largest community college in the United States.
