Industrial Chemical Fire

Fire crews have extinguished a chemical fire in mound house after sodium caught fire in a warehouse.

Due to the nature of the chemical -- a special system had to be used to extinguish the blaze.

It started in an industrial building on Bruce Way in Mound House north of Highway 50 just before 4 o'clock Friday morning.

Residents in the area were evacuated for a short time because the smoke from the fire, may have been toxic.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
