RENO, Nev. (AP) -- The Reno area's existing home market had a better year in 2012.
A report released Wednesday by the Reno/Sparks Association of Realtors shows sales of existing homes in Washoe County totaled 6,132 last year. That represents a 4 percent increase over 2011.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the median sales price in the county also rose about 7 percent to $165,000.
The city of Reno recorded 4,153 sales of single-family dwellings, which was 5 percent more than 2011. Meanwhile, the median sales price rose 8 percent to $170,000.
The same amount of homes was sold in Sparks as the previous year, 1,888, but the median price rose 9 percent to $160,000.
Association President Helen Graham says such gains in prices haven't been seen in more than eight years.
