Plan for Vegas Strip Gun Range Scrapped

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A plan to allow tourists to shoot high-end Italian guns inside a casino on the Las Vegas Strip appears to have fallen apart.

The company behind the effort to install a Beretta shooting range and gun store inside the Shoppes at the Palazzo hotel-casino is withdrawing its permit application.

County spokesman Dan Kulin confirms that Phase II Mall Subsidiary pulled its application Wednesday during a meeting of the Clark County Commission.

Beretta had proposed a 20,000-square-foot complex complete with two live gun ranges, three virtual ranges and a retail store selling guns but not ammunition.

Representatives for the adjoining Venetian Resort opposed the proposal, saying it could be dangerous.

A spokeswoman for the Shoppes declined comment. Beretta representatives did not respond to calls or emails.
