Wednesday the House of Representatives passed a bill that buys the country another four months before it risks default.
The bill will suspend the debt limit until May, but if the Senate doesn't draft a budget it will prevent them from getting paid.
The White House has already promised to sign it and Senate leadership says it will vote on the bill and pass a budget.
The White House and House Republicans will now have to turn to the fight over looming automatic spending cuts that the fiscal cliff deal pushed back to March.
