Reno Police Investigate Fatal Accident Near Sutro Street

Reno police officers are currently on scene of a fatal accident near Sutro Street and Paintbrush Drive.

Police say a Geo Metro was traveling northbound when for some reason it crossed into the southbound lane and hit a SUV head on about 3pm on Tuesday.

The Metro driver died at the scene.

Everyone in the SUV had minor injuries.

At this time, police don't know if alcohol or a prior medical condition caused the accident.

The names of the involved people are being with held at this time pending the investigation.

Sutro heading south between McCarran and Wedekind will be shut down for the next few hours as police investigate. The Reno Police Department asks motorist to please be patient while we continue this investigation and advise to please avoid the area or use an alternate route if possible.
