Governor Sandoval Announces Staff Changes

Posted: Updated:

Governor Sandoval today announced staffing changes in his communications office. Effective February 1st, Stewart "Mac" Bybee will join the Governor's Office as the Director of Public Relations & Community Affairs.  As a senior staff member, Mac will oversee public affairs, community outreach and the constituent service efforts of the Governor's Office.  Bybee will also assist with congressional and state legislative matters.

"Mac brings a wealth of knowledge from his years of experience working with Nevada and national media and I am pleased he has agreed to join my staff," Governor Brian Sandoval said.  "I have no doubt that Mac will be an asset to my office and I look forward to working with him to help inform Nevadans about all that is happening within our state."

Mac Bybee joins the Governor's office from Senator Dean Heller's office in Washington D.C. where he has served for the past six years managing media relations and communications strategy.  Bybee also previously worked on Heller's 2006 campaign and in Heller's Congressional office.

"I've relied on Mac's expertise and knowledge of Nevada since he first joined my team in 2006.  Nevadans will continue to be well-served by his expertise and talent.  I wish him the best of luck in his new role working for Governor Sandoval," said Senator Dean Heller.

A Native Nevadan who grew up in Carson City, Bybee graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno. He has also served as a legislative correspondent for former U.S. Senator John Ensign and worked for former U.S. Senator Richard Bryan.

Also, effective February 1st, Mary-Sarah Kinner will serve as Communications Director for the Governor's Office. Mary-Sarah has served as the Governor's Press Secretary since 2011 and previously worked on the Governor's campaign.
