Pi Phi Beta Sorority Suspended for Minimum of 3 Years
The university tells us the local chapter of Pi Beta Phi sorority has been suspended for a minimum of three years after an investigation into possible hazing.
In a letter to alums Tuesday night, the sorority said its Grand Council suspended them until at least 2015.
All active members will be made alumnae and those living there this semester will be alums by the end of the semester.
Back in November, we reported that the sorority had its operations suspended until February because of those hazing allegations.
In the letter sent out yesterday, the sorority said the hazing allegations stemmed from pledges having their cellphones taken away for a retreat and feeling isolated from the outside world.
It also said alums hope the sorority will return to campus in 2015, but nothing is guaranteed.
We'll be sure to let you know if we learn of any new developments in this story.
