A local mining consultant company had to be evacuated because of a mechanical fire.

Fire crews were called to Kappes, Cassiday & Associates on Security Circle in Golden Valley around 10:15am on Tuesday.

Crews say a fire broke out in a mechanical system, but was extinguished by sprinklers before fire crews arrived on scene.

A regional hazardous materials response team also responded as a precaution.

Chemical tests came back negative, so no decontamination was needed. No one was hurt.

Firefighters say about 40 employees work at the building site. They have since been sent home for the rest of the day.
