New Lyon County Jail Opens

Lyon County's overcrowded jail has been replaced with a new and bigger one.

The $24-million "Lyon County Justice Complex" opened on Monday.

The timing of the transfer of inmates was kept secret for security reasons.

Lyon County Sheriff Allen Veil says the old jail averaged 94 inmates sharing 54 beds. The new jail has 184 beds.

The chairman of the Lyon County Commission says it was worth the decade it took to complete the project.
