Fans located in and near the nation’s capital will be heading to one of the country's most impressive sports and entertainment arenas. It opened in 1997 and has played host to a number of memorable events. Four sports teams play home contests in the facility: the NBA’s Washington Wizards, the WNBA’s Washington Mystics, the NHL’s Washington Capitals and the Georgetown Hoyas men’s basketball team of the Big East Conference. The list of musical acts that have performed here includes Beyonce, the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, the Black Eyed Peas, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and Madonna.
The facility, located less than a mile east of the White House, is easily accessible via public transportation. It is situated directly above Gallery Place, a Washington Metro station. Those taking the Green, Red or Yellow Line may ride directly to the Verizon Center. The arena is also less than a mile west of Union Station. Amtrak, MARC and Virginia Railway Express all serve that station. Those traveling from further away may elect to take a plane into the metropolitan area. The main airports serving the city are Ronald Reagan National Airport and Dulles International Airport.
Fans have been lining up to watch this talented band perform ever since they took the United Kingdom by storm by impressing on the British version of “The X Factor." Each of the five members had actually been eliminated from the competition as soloists before they were allowed to return as a group. After finishing third, they would go on to release “Up All Night” in November 2011. “Take Me Home” came out a year later. Both of those albums topped the Billboard 200.
