Lawyers for the suspect in the Colorado theater shooting say he's not ready to enter a plea to charges that he killed 12 people and wounded 70.
James Holmes is due in court Friday to hear whether he has to stand trial for the shooting. If, as expected, a judge finds that there's enough evidence for a trial, he could be arraigned on more than 160 felony charges and required to enter a plea.
But Holmes' attorneys filed papers Thursday afternoon saying he was not ready to be arraigned. They're asking Judge William Sylvester to consider the hearing as only a routine pretrial hearing.
The defense lawyers did not explain why they want the delay.
A preliminary hearing to establish whether Holmes should stand trial for the attack ended Wednesday. (AP)
