Carson City Standoff Ends After Four Hours

Posted: Updated:

A man is behind bars in Carson City after a nearly four-hour standoff with deputies.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong says deputies went to serve a warrant in the area of Clearview and Silver Sage Drives around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Deputies made contact with their suspect but the suspect drove away. After a short vehicle chase, the suspect stopped his car, ran into a friend's house and barricaded himself inside.

The SWAT team arrived and they used tear gas to force him out.

Deputies arrested the suspect, 22-year-old John Vallerio. Furlong says he has warrants out of Carson City and Placerville, California.

Vallerio now faces an additional charge of obstructing justice.
