Nevada Highway Patrol troopers are investigating an accident that killed a Carson City man late Monday night in Douglas County.

Troopers say the 31-year-old man was pulling out from the driveway of the 7-Eleven store near Riverview Drive and 395 in his Ford sedan. When he tried to cross the south lane prior to turning left to go north, troopers say he drove into the direct path of a Mercury Mountaineer heading south on 395.

The front of the Mountaineer struck the left side of the sedan causing both vehicles to become disabled on the highway blocking at least two travel lanes.

The Mountaineer driver, 36-year-old Jeremy T. Reineman of Fredericksburg, Virginia, was not hurt. His family, who were also inside the SUV, were not seriously hurt.

The Ford driver was taken to Carson Valley Medical Center in Gardnerville where he later died. His female passenger was flown by Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released. Their names haven't been released.

Troopers say alcohol is suspected to be involved in the accident.

If you have any information about this accident, call Trooper Doug Hildebrand at 775-689-4623 regarding case number NHP-130107791.

It's a common misconception that veterans get dental care covered along with the rest of their benefits. But while the VA does offer dental, most vets don't qualify. So a Reno dentist's office is taking on the mission to serve those who have served. Every year the Sala Family Dentistry office in northwest Reno opens its doors for a full day of free care for veterans.
