Local Fundraiser For Newtown Shooting Victims On Saturday

Posted: Updated:

Local parents are invited to bring their kids to sit for a portrait on Saturday. All of the proceeds will go toward helping the victims in the December 14th shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

Photographer Sally Casas is putting on the event.

"When it happened, it had an impact on everybody, and I think being a parent of an 8-year old, all I wanted to do that day was go and get my son out of school and never let him out of my sight again," she said. "But, it was just really, really hard thinking about what the families were going through."

She and a friend are taking pictures of local children for a small fee to honor the children who were killed in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

"If we can contribute to raise some funds that the schools can use, that the victims' families can use to help offset costs or to use towards mental health issues, then it will all be worth it," Casas said.

All of the money will go directly to the school fund.

"They can either make a check out payable directly to them," she said. "They can pay in cash, or they can pay through credit card directly on their website on the day."

It's all happening at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Emerald Room A on Saturday, January 5th from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

It's $10 per child for one photo or $25 for four photos.
