Forestdale Road Closed to Snowmobiles Today

Posted: Updated:

Forestdale Road (NFS Road 31013) will close to over snow motor vehicles on December 28, 2012. All motor vehicles including snowmobiles are required to stay out of the area.

Forestdale Road is typically opened to over-snow vehicles in the early winter and late spring when insufficient snow exists at the Hope Valley Snopark. Hope Valley Snopark has had adequate snow accumulations in the last few weeks, making staging available to snowmobiles.

The timing of the closure of Forestdale Road is determined on an annual basis by the Carson District Ranger based on a review of on-the-ground conditions.

The Mokelumne Wilderness area is adjacent to Forestdale Road on the west and is always closed to motor vehicles. Snowmobile riders should be aware of all closed areas and ride only in areas with sufficient snow.

Stay safe when recreating in winter conditions by having the proper snow gear and letting someone know where you intend to go. Snowmobilers must also carry a California Snopark pass and have a valid state registration on the machine.
