LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A woman implicated in the stabbing death of a 10-year-old girl is due in court Wednesday for a hearing in the murder and kidnapping case and for arraignment in the slashing of a casino dealer with razor blades.
50-year-old Brenda Stokes was arrested the night of Dec. 21 after allegedly slashing an employee at the Bellagio casino. Detectives say they later found clothes in Stokes' home containing the blood of young Jade Morris.
The girl had last been seen alive at about 5 p.m. Dec. 21, when she left with Stokes to go Christmas shopping. Jade's body was discovered Thursday in North Las Vegas by someone walking her dog.
Police say Stokes had been dating Jade's father for about four years and the child considered Stokes her stepmother.
