Taxable sales in Nevada rose 4.3% in October over the same month last year, marking the 28th consecutive month of modest gains.
The report released Wednesday by the Department of Taxation says Nevada merchants sold $3.7 billion in goods in October on which the state collected $287.7 million in gross sales and use taxes. Revenue collections are up 6.5% for the month and nearly 6% for the first four months of the fiscal year that began July 1.
Sales in Clark County, Nevada's population hub, rose 5.2% in October, while sales in Washoe County that includes Reno fell 2%.
Statewide gains were fueled by double-digit increases in sales of durable goods, vehicles and parts, clothing and accessories and accommodations. (AP)
