Nevada troopers stayed busy early Wednesday after an overnight snowstorm blanketed the northern Nevada region with snow, creating slick roads.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says there were 18 motor vehicle crashes in western Nevada between midnight and 10 a.m. Of those, 10 were in the Reno-Sparks area and eight were in surrounding rural locations.
Only minor injuries were reported.
Chains or snow tires are required on mountain roads in the Sierra, including Interstate 80 and U.S. 50.
But travel conditions around the valleys of western Nevada were improving by midmorning.
The National Weather Service says snow showers will linger into Thursday, with more snow possible over the weekend. (AP)
