Dolan Auto Group Donates to Food Bank, Catholic Charities
The Food Bank of Northern Nevada and Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada got a big boost ahead of the holidays.
Dolan Automotive Group presented both nonprofits with $20,000 checks Thursday morning.
"It's important, especially at Christmas time and Thanksgiving. You know we've got to dig into your heart a little bit and be able to give out something. You can always give back to the community," says Tom Dolan.
This is the second year the Dolans have donated to both these nonprofits.
Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada will use the money to feed hundreds of people at St. Vincent's Dining Hall every day.
And the Food Bank of Northern Nevada will use it to keep up its monthly demand of 97,000 people.
They say donations like this will help them well past the holidays.
"We're thrilled at the influx of resources, dollars and food donations that we receive during the holidays, but people are hungry are year long, particularly kids. You know almost 50% of the kids in this community are eligible for free meals at school because of their family's income," says Cherie Jamason.
The $20,000 donation will equal 80,000 meals for the food bank.
