Santa Arrives Early to Sun Valley Elementary School

Posted: Updated:

Many children in our community don't have very many presents to open for Christmas, but Wednesday, the Chamber of Commerce pitched in to help those in need by delivering a huge donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows.

The Chamber of Commerce donated $15,000 worth of gifts to the Boys and Girls Club. Thanks to them, students at Sun Valley Elementary had an early Christmas.

"They're so excited in line over there. They're jumping up and down as they stand and wait for Santa Claus. When they finally get to sit axon Santa's lap and see the gifts that have been donated by the community, it's just awesome. The smiles on their faces and eyes lit up is just amazing," said Rick Stevens of Boys and Girls Club.

The Chamber adopts a children's charity every year to help raise awareness.

This year it was the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows.

The children at Sun Valley Elementary made wish lists and had a chance to sit on Santa's lap. After telling Santa what they wanted, they were given the presents they asked for right then and there.

In all, 128 children received presents.
