You think you're busy this time of year with all that shopping and wrapping and planning? You know who's even busier? USPS mail carriers. You see - all those catalogues they delivered in November, the ones you did so much online shopping from... now the bill has come due on delivery.
"Parcel counts are up by 20% this year over last," says David Rupert with the USPS. "And we expect to deliver 18 billion pieces of mail will be delivered this holiday season…nationwide."
That's a lot of cards and letters…and parcels. Clyde Maki has been doing this in Reno for 15 years now and he says he actually looks forward to it.
"Yeah, it is a lot of deliveries. But I do look forward to it. I mean we are delivering Christmas and it is so cool when kids see those packages coming in," Maki says.
Today is expected to be the busiest day of the year for delivering letters. Thursday is slated as the busiest day of the year for parcels to be delivered. And Maki says he'll be delivering cards up until Christmas Day.
It's not too late, by the way to mail things for Christmas. Parcels mailed as priority mail through Friday will still get there on time. For details go to www.usps.com
