Minden Company Collecting Donations for Victim's Family

Posted: Updated:

A local company is collecting donations to help one of the families who lost a child in the Sandy Hook shooting in Connecticut. North Sails has plants in both Minden, Nevada and in Milford, Connecticut. One of their employees in Connecticut lost a daughter in the shooting. Six-year-old Olivia was one of the 20 young victims. The company here is creating a fund to help out.

"They are a part of our North Sails family," said Jeff Holden today. "And while we know that money won't fix things we want to help. So we are collecting donations at our North Sales office on (2379) Heybourne Road this Thursday from noon to six. We will take any donations the public would like to offer and we will be delivering it to them next week."

Holden says that Olivia has a three-year-old brother who is okay. But now he will be growing up without an older sister and while the recovery that family faces will last a lifetime, they are trying to help anyway they can.

You may also drop off donations at the Coffee on the Main, 1572 Highway 395, Minden NV or their other location 795 Tillman, Gardnerville Ranchos.

Her family has set up a website in Olivia's memory through Facebook's Engel Family Fund Page found here:  https://www.facebook.com/FriendsofTheEngelFamilyFund
