BLM Firewood Cutting, Christmas Tree Permits Available

Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Battle Mountain District Office, has personal-use firewood-cutting permits and Christmas tree permits available for purchase in Battle Mountain, Tonopah, and Austin, Nev., and Bishop, Calif. at the following locations: the Tonopah Field Office, 1553 Main Street, Tonopah, NV 89049, the Austin, NV 89310, and, Bishpo, CA 93514.

Piñyon/juniper firewood-cutting permits are $6 per cord with a two-cord minimum purchase and a five-cord maximum purchase, while Christmas tree permits are $4 per tree with a five per household limit.  No resale or other commercial use of the wood is allowed.

People are advised to plan ahead for their tree-cutting activities.  Winter conditions are unpredictable and emergency equipment and supplies such as chains, snow tires, a shovel, a first aid kit, blankets, and extra food and water are recommended.  Always tell someone where you are going and provide an expected return time.

 Permits are being sold at the following loacations:

  • BLM Battle Mountain District Office, 50 Bastian Road, Battle Mountain
  • BLM Tonopah Field Office, 1553 Main Street, Tonopah
  • United States Forest Service Office, 100 Midas Canyon Road, Austin
  • BLM the Bishop Field Office, 351 Pacu Lane, Suite 100, Bishop
