Revision To NV Lawyer Advertising Rules Approved

Posted: Updated:

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- The Nevada Supreme Court has signed off on revisions to lawyer advertising rules, including new provisions concerning disclaimers and the use of actors.

State Bar President Frank Flaherty told the Nevada Appeal (http://bit.ly/Z93EtQ ) that the revisions were made after extensive testing of 2007 rule changes that were spurred by public complaints.

Among other changes, the new rules require actors to be clearly identified as such in ads, and disclaimers to be clearly displayed in both print and television ads.

Also, ads listing a specific fee or range of fees must list how long they remain in effect and other limitations, and can't promise that clients only must pay if their attorney wins.

The new rules also require the naming of lawyers who will actually provide services touted in ads.
