We are getting close to Christmas and there are plenty of opportunities this weekend for Santa to strut his stuff. A Santa Pub Crawl, a Santa 5K Dash, Bowling with the Elves, and even a Santa Ski Crawl. So dress up, take part and enjoy!

 

Friday 12/14

Bowling with Elves:

For just $5 you can bowl with Santa and his elves at the National Bowling Stadium in downtown Reno. It's in conjunction with the Toys for Tots program. You get to bowl with the elves, see the stadium and help kids. This year kids have the fun on Friday…Parents have the fun Saturday with the Santa Pub Crawl. And it all goes to helping kids in need this holiday season.

Celebrating the Season with Art Wilbur May Museum:

The Sierra Watercolor Society captures the sights of the season and more in their winter exhibit and sale. "Celebrating the Season" includes regional artists displaying original watercolors depicting the holiday and/or winter season

Holidays around the World with the Reno Pops 7:30 The Rock Church

Celebrate the holiday season with the Reno Pops Orchestra! This popular annual concert will feature several of the best holiday arrangements from Carmen Dragon and Leroy Anderson. We'll be joined by the Reno Latin Branch Choir and the Tintabulations hand bell choir for festive favorites from around the world. Local artists and plenty of ornaments handcrafted clothing soap a metal worker and a flame worker. It promises to be a great opportunity for local unique holiday gifts.

Art Angels at Wilbur May Museum  9:30 am

Local artists will help children tap into their creative side with a special holiday art workshop. The class is free to children ages 6 to 12. Students will be instructed in small groups on watercolor technique, and each child will complete two paintings – one of which will be matted and ready to frame! Advance reservations are required and the class is limited to 50 children.

Kids Night Out-Parents Night In

The City of Sparks Parks and Recreation Department is offering the 2nd annual 'Kids Night Out - Parents Night In' program.

Ages 7 to 12 can enjoy an evening filled with games, swimming and pizza while their parents have a quiet night in or do some last-minute holiday shopping. Hours are 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Edgewater Winterfest 2012:

It happens on Riverbrook Court and it starts at 5:00 and boy does that neighborhood know how to celebrate the season. They'll have sleigh rides –Desert Style-music, reindeer, caroling and a possible appearance by Santa

 

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever! 5-6 pm at the First United Methodist Church

Nevada Opera is proud to present "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" a musical play featuring young artists from northern Nevada. This program is the first production of the newly created Nevada Opera Youth Program.

The performance will be held at the Reno First United Methodist Church. The church is located at 209 West 1st Street at the corner of West Street and the RiverWalk.

Carson City Canned Food Drive to Benefit the Carson City Food Pantry

In their Paws Celebrity Sleep Over: Celebrities will be spending the night in the animal shelter at the Humane Society to help raise money for the animals. This year Trooper Chuck Allen with the Nevada Highway Patrol and Santa himself will be there.

We the People District 2 Competition: High school students will compete in congressional style competition at UNR addressing six sets of questions about the U.S. starts at 9 am and goes til 2:30. Winners will go to the national competition in Washington D.C in April.

Wreaths across America Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Fernley 9

Donated wreaths will be placed on the graves of our servicemen and women in at the National Cemetery in Fernley and in National cemeteries across the country this Saturday. The service is 9 am.

Lights of Tanea 5-10 pm

Lights of Tanea presents its 7th annual Biggest Little Christmas Light Show in Reno! Christmas lights are synchronized to holiday music and transmitted to 97.7FM. It is a free event and organizers gratefully accept reusable clothing donations for Friends of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, non-perishable food donations for Evelyn Mount's Community Outreach, and monetary donations for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
