Courtesy: Regional Transportation CommissionThe Regional Transportation Commission is scheduled to break ground on the first phase of the SouthEast Connector Project Friday morning.
RTC says the public is invited to attend the 10:30am ceremony in the parking lot directly across from the Alamo Travel Center located at 1950 E. Greg Street in Sparks.
RTC says the SouthEast Connector project addresses long-term transportation needs to improve the mobility of people, goods and services throughout Reno, Sparks and Washoe County.
Phase 1 of the project, which is construction of a new bridge over the Truckee River, is scheduled to begin next month. It will take approximately 20 months to build.
Phase 1 will provide the last 5.5 miles of roadway connectivity along the Veterans Parkway/Sparks Boulevard corridor.
