A Thai version of online tutoring service, Maths-Whizz, is planned for launch in Thailand mid-2013 in conjunction with a local partner, Nanmee Books.
London, England (PRWEB) December 12, 2012
The TIMSS and PIRLS 2011 Data Release out this week highlights the excellence of Asian countries in Maths and Science, with the UK not far behind. Such comparisons are becoming increasingly influential, highlighting the educational strength that underpins the emerging economic powers in Asia. This focus on international education provides the perfect backdrop for the latest announcement by London-based online education company Whizz Education.
A Thai version of Maths-Whizz is planned for launch in Thailand mid-2013 in conjunction with a local partner Nanmee Books. The contract was secured with help from UK Trade & Investment based on exploratory meetings and a subsequent OMIS in 2011. UKTI representatives provided an invaluable service, closely aligning Whizz Education objectives to those of potential partners. The resulting deal will bring online tutoring service Maths-Whizz to Thai schools and districts.
Says CEO Richard Marrett, “This new partnership with Nanmee Books is the culmination of a great year for Whizz. Along with other award-winning British Educational Technology companies, Whizz Education continues to work towards the global commitment to Education for All. The last twelve months in particular have brought us awards, partnerships and deployments on an international stage. We are looking forward to building upon our international expansion in 2013, working with students, parents, schools and governments to raise achievement levels in Maths worldwide.”
Parveen Thornhill, Regional Director, UKTI London said: "Doing business with Thailand may seem daunting, but working with a local partner, as Whizz Education have done, is a good approach. Improving the education system, and particularly English language instruction, is high on the Thai Government's agenda; and with Thailand being one of the largest growth markets in Asia, there are many opportunities out there for UK SMEs such as Whizz."
