No Decision Made on Aces' Future; Council to Discuss Later

Posted: Updated:

The Reno City Council made no decision on the future of the Reno Aces at its Wednesday meeting, instead pushing the discussion to a later date.

We reported a few weeks ago that a tax revenue earmarked for the Aces stadium in downtown Reno, has not grown.

And councilmembers are not sure about using the general fund to put the promised $1 million a year into the stadium.

"We want to work with baseball to keep them here as well as keep the city's finances top of mind and keep the taxpayers interest at heart," says Neoma Jardon, Reno City Council - Ward 5.

Councilmembers say they want to find a way to keep the Aces here, since they impact the community in a number of ways.

"I think the impacts, economic and civic, are tremendous and we just want to make sure that we understand the documents at hand as we move forward in a very positive and united way with baseball."

City council is on a break until January and members suspect they will be looking closely at this deal late next month or in early February.
