The College of Science at the University of Nevada is home to some very special lasers.
"This is an experimental chamber where we would actually deliver laser pulses onto to a target and convert it once again into a plasma."
We got a tour of the Nevada TeraWatt facility on campus Tuesday morning.
Students are using the lasers to research the magnetic fields within plasmas in a variety of environments.
"We're training students on cutting edge research and techniques and they're available to employers when they graduate so we're looking for opportunities to work in economic development," says Jeff Thompson, Dean of the College of Science.
The work at the facility explores emerging methods of cancer diagnostics and treatment, and even the inner workings of stars and fusion energy.
