Winners Announced for Hometowne Christmas Parade

The following parade entries took the top spot in their respective categories for the Sparks Hometowne Christmas Parade, presented by Inuit. "Snowmen on Parade" was the theme for the 26th annual event held at Victorian Square. The panel of judges included Craig Hagler/Swire Coca-Cola, Kayla Monroy and Jessica LaBarber/Inuit and Jeff Martinez/KTVN-Channel 2.

The parade winners are:

Community Group: Souls Harbor Church

Vehicle: Washoe County School District Classroom on Wheels - The Cow Bus 

Costume Group: High Desert Steam

Animals: Lamas and More Association

Float: Cub Scout #34

Marching Band: Tie! Mayor's Own Marching Band AND Envision Performing Arts

Everyone who brought out a toy for the toy drive and helped stuff the truck at the parade!  If you missed bringing a gift at that time, bring your toy to any of the following locations and know that your generosity is bringing joy to a child this Christmas.

The City of Sparks toy drive ends this Friday, December 14, as we join our friends at KTVN for Share your Christmas! Meet at the train on Victorian Square and bring along a toy or food. Volunteers will be ready to take your donation from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    The list of legal problems for the Washoe School District grew this morning as the State Attorney General's Office filed six counts each against the six trustees involved in the Pedro Martinez suit. But The School Board's outside counsel says he began working on settlement in that matter since last Wednesday and able to file it immediately. The suit alleges the trustees made six different violations to the State Open Meeting Law and that they should be paying $500 per violation. Those violati...More >>
