Driggers and Corkill Cash in at Wrangler National Finals Rodeo

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 6, 2012 --- A game plan came together for team ropers Kaleb Driggers, from Albany, Ga., and Jade Corkill from Fallon, Nev., at the first performance of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

With Driggers roping the horns and Corkill catching the feet, they stopped the clock in 4.7 seconds to earn a share of the first-place prize money. They tied with Brock Hanson from Casa Grande, Ariz., and Ryan Motes from Weatherford, Texas. Each man earned $16,343.

The money is crucial for Driggers and Corkill who came into this year's competition in third place. They have already moved into second and are hoping to keep the momentum going to earn their first world championships.

"It's crucial to get a good start at this rodeo," Corkill said. "It seems like every year, whoever gets off to a good start keeps it rolling."

Driggers and Corkill got to watch 12 other teams go before them and were able to form a game plan.

"I was trying to be calm and make sure that we caught," Driggers said. "I knew if we caught one we would win something. Jade was able to cathch the steer really fast and it all came together to let us win a share of the round."

The second performance of the rodeo starts on Friday night, Dec. 7 at 6:45 p.m.
