The Carson City Sheriff's Office has identified the two women found shot dead in Voltaire Canyon on Thursday morning.

Sheriff Ken Furlong says 20-year-old Monique Evans and 24-year-old Sandra Leggett both died from gunshot wounds to the head. The bodies were found approximately one half mile from nearby residences. He says there's no evidence of anyone else involved in the shooting.

Deputies also found markings on Leggett's arm that suggest prior suicide attempts.

Toxicology reports are pending and not expected to be returned for 6-8 weeks. No other injuries were found and investigators say there were no signs of a struggle.

Furlong says the gun, a .38 caliber revolver pistol, was found nearby.

Furlong says deputies believe the two alone on a hillside all night and that death likely occurred late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. He says alcohol was found nearby  but no notes or suggestions of suicide.

Anyone with information should contact the Carson City Sheriff's Office at 887-2500 or Secret Witness at 322-4900 or text your tip to 847411.
