The Federal Trade Commission has approved a settlement between Renown Regional Medical Center and cardiologists over their contracts.
Under the settlement reached in August, Renown has released the cardiologists from their non-compete clauses.
As a result - 8 physicians are leaving the hospital's Institute for Heart and Vascular Health and will be practicing with other local hospitals.
Two more doctors plan to move into private practice.
However, 20 more have decided to remain at Renown.
Renown says they are adding personnel to make the transition as easy as possible and it will in no way affect patients' insurance coverage.
