BLM Issues Restrictions for TRE, Preacher Fire Rehabilitation
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Sierra Front Field Office has issued a temporary vehicle use restriction and temporary closure to wood harvesting and tree cutting on BLM-managed land in the TRE and Preacher burn areas in the Pine Nut Mountains south of Gardnerville in Douglas County, Nev. This order will be in effect until December 4, 2014.
Over the next several years, the BLM will implement post-fire rehabilitation and stabilization measures that will encourage re-growth of annual and perennial plants. The restriction and closure is needed to prevent soil erosion which is likely to occur from cross-country vehicle use and removal of downed wood stabilization structures. Vehicle use in the area will be limited to posted roads and two-track trails that will remain open during this period.
This action was analyzed in the TRE and Preacher Fire Emergency Action, Temporary Closures, Environmental Assessment.
