49 Fernley Foster Children Have Christmas Wishes

Posted: Updated:

Christmas comes but once a year, but the feeling a child receives from a gracious gift at the holidays could last a lifetime. The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) knows that well and, with the assistance of community partners and private donations, hopes to extend a little joy to a foster child whose life might not be filled with enough of it. You can help make a Christmas Wish come true through the DCFS's Christmas Program, the spirit of the season is very much celebrated by providing to children under the agency's care a Christmas they might not otherwise enjoy.

DCFS works with families in our community by providing child protective services.  Sometimes the family's situation is such that the children have to be removed from their families and placed into foster care placements for their protection. In Fernley, that's 49 little lives that have been turned upside down.

How You Can Help:

Four community partners have agreed to sponsor wishing trees to provide gifts that go directly to those children who are currently in foster care placements within our area.
