Victim in Fatal Motorcycle Accident on Sparks Boulevard Identified

Posted: Updated:

Sparks Police have now identified the victim in a fatal motorcycle accident on Thanksgiving night as 73-year-old Fred Paul Canepa of Sparks.

Police say the accident happened around 7:15 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Sparks Boulevard, near Disc Drive.

They say Canepa was riding the wrong way in the northbound lanes of Sparks Boulevard.

He reportedly tried to ride and jump over a high median to get back onto the correct lanes, when he crashed and fell off his bike in the southbound lanes. They say when he was trying to standup after falling he was struck by an SUV. He died on the scene. Police do not believe alcohol played a factor.

Sparks Boulevard was closed between Disc Drive and Shadow Lane while police investigated.
