Douglas County Deputies say a dune buggy driver died on Thanksgiving after being hit by a Ford F-150 truck head on.

The accident happened just before 9:30am on Sunrise Pass Road near Juniper Valley located behind the Johnson Lane subdivision in the Pinenut Mountains.

Deputies say the dune buggy was speeding west on a dirt road when it slid and drifted head on into the path of an oncoming older Ford F-150.

The dune buggy driver, 19-year-old Daniel Palmer of Minden died on the scene, while the passenger was flown by Carefight to Renown Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
