Three middle schools (Sparks Middle School, Cold Springs Middle School and Pine Middle School) will receive awards totaling $46,423 on Tuesday, November 27 at 3:40 PM to 4:40 PM. The awards will be presented at the Washoe County School District Board Meeting, which will be held at Miguel Sepulveda Elementary, located at 5075 Ion Drive, Sparks (North on Pyramid Way, turn right on Los Altos, turn right on Ion Drive). Each school will receive $15,000 to $16,200 to support a major educational project for their school.

Over the next three weeks, Assistance League of Reno-Sparks will be awarding 208 teachers $53,577 for 123 projects at 18 elementary schools. The awards, which are funded by grants and donations and the Assistance League's Thrift Shop revenues, are designed to provide teachers with the funding to do something extra in their classrooms without spending their personal resources. Sue Martin, President of Assistance League of Reno-Sparks states, "We are proud to support the hard working teachers of Washoe County."

Assistance League of Reno-Sparks Links to Learning program is coordinating the distribution of 8,300 books worth to 18 Washoe County elementary schools and Kids Kottage. The books were donated by the Molina Foundation (www.molinafoundation.org ). The Molina Foundation, based in California, believes strongly in literacy programs. While the Molina Foundation donated these books, the Assistance League of Reno-Sparks paid to have them delivered to the Washoe County School District's warehouse.

Volunteers from the Assistance League and seniors from Truckee Meadows Community College High School will be unpacking the 8,300 books, repacking them for individual schools, and delivering them to the schools. This project will take place Friday, November 30, 9:00 – 10:30 at the Washoe County School District's warehouse, 380 Edison Way, Reno.
