Felicia Hill knows the heartache of losing a child. "It was about 9pm and I was feeding her, holding her, watching TV, just hanging out and I looked down and she's not breathing, something's wrong."
Baby Audrey was just 3 days old. No medical reason could pinpoint why she stopped breathing. "Luckily my dad was there and we got 911 on the phone and he did a couple of heart compressions that they were telling him what to do and actually by his couple of pumps of her little heart that he did, it was strong enough that we could donate."
The moment Audrey took her last breath, a little girl in Canada, named Addison, went into heart failure. Felicia had already decided to donate Audrey's organs.
"It was Mother's Day actually that her mom got the call and said 'we have a heart for your baby.'"
A young woman in Sacramento also got a call that day. Doctors told Heidi they had a kidney for her. Two lives saved by one very brave baby girl.
Felicia wears a special necklace around her neck. It says hope on a piece of jade. Hope and Jade are Audrey's two middle names. Felicia says her mantra has always been about hope and helping others even during her own hard times. "That's what I'm about and that's what I've always been about and that's what I wanted to teach her but I didn't have to teach her that, she just did it."
And now Felicia has a new baby girl to teach those things to. And with Audrey and Felicia at her side, Olivia Grace, is sure to be a strong, caring woman as well.
